We're holding a second meeting for potential Fringe participants on Wednesday 12th July at 6.30pm at the Duke (125 Creek Rd, SE8 3BU). This is around 10 days before the fringe deadline (23 July), and is intended to be an opportunity to ask any questions about the submission process, and to flag up if you're having any difficulties getting your proposal together. It will be an opportunity for artists or curators with an idea for a project to come and find a venue who are looking for someone to do something in their space, and vice versa. We will have a list of available spaces and be able to advise on who, and how, to approach if you want to get your work in the public realm! If you haven't been involved in the fringe before or you don't know where to begin, this is your chance to clarify anything you need to know, with enough time left before the deadline to get your project together.
Deptford X 2017 Fringe is an open-call programme strand for independent projects, supported – but not controlled – by Deptford X. In the past we’ve had art occupying shop windows, libraries, roundabouts, public walls, railway arches, and pubs. No nook or cranny is left unfilled. Last year we had over 80 different exhibitions and events across 40 venues: a real celebration of local culture.
We are also delighted to be working in collaboration with Kitmapper, who make it easier for artists to hire AV equipment from other artists at reasonable rates. They have kindly offered Deptford X Fringe participants a discount on hiring kit for the duration of the festival. Come along to find out more!
We'll be heading to the pub at around 6.15pm and kicking off the meeting at 6.30. We will give a short presentation and then open for questions. After that we'll be taking direct enquiries from people and inviting everyone to stick around, have a drink, and meet one another. If you can't stay for long, that's ok too.
